The President of Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), Alhaji Sakirudeen Tunji Labode has requested for collaboration with the Nigerian Polytechnics and Colleges and the Association as a way of removing the lacuna existing between the academics and professional practices as he noted that the practical aspects of accountancy training rest solely with professional body like ANAN considering the structure of its training programme

The President who made the request while addressing the meeting of Coheads of Polytechnics and Colleges of Technology at its 126th Regular Meeting held at Kwara State Polytechnic Ilorin asked rhetorically ? why acquire skills and knowledge you cannot practice?? He then added that ANAN will continue to build and focus more on bringing Professionalism to the door steps of higher institutions within the Association?s limited resources.

He therefore requested that such a forum of meeting of coheads of the Polytechnics and Colleges should be used as a channel for collaboration that would be of mutual benefits not only to the institutions but also for accountancy profession in particular and the Nigerian economy in general. Meanwhile majority of the rectors that spoke during the briefing requested that accreditation of courses in Polytechnics and Colleges of Technology as being done by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and Professional Bodies should be scrapped because according to them, it stretched the limited resources of the institutions and duplication of efforts.
